Are Turkish megayacht manufacturers hopeful for the coming years?

As Turkish megayacht manufacturers, we have to be patient. Increasing labor costs in Europe will give us an advantage. If we do not compromise on quality in production and factors such as on-time delivery, we can become one of the 5-6 most important countries in this industry.

Has the economic crisis slowed down?

At this year’s Monaco yacht fair, we found that many buyers are in the market. We even signed a preliminary agreement for a 45-meter boat with a Danish buyer. CMB Yachting, one of Turkey’s most ambitious companies in personalized megayacht production, has received prestigious awards in the international arena in recent years. Hüseyin Başaran, Chairman of the Board of CMB Yachts and Başaran Group, shared his views on the sector. You started megayacht production while operating in various sectors.

Can you tell us about your work in this sector?

After we decided to invest in this sector, we made all our investments to ensure the highest quality of production. We paid great attention to human quality, which is one of the most important factors of production. In this direction, we created a very good team by selecting the best employees. In this segment, we have become a company that Europe knows. Custom yacht You have introduced the term custom yacht design and production to the Turkish yacht sector.

Is there a market in our country that represents the understanding of a personal yacht?

We have made a name for ourselves in the market with personalized productions over 45 meters. In our developing country, now that buyers have moved on to big boats, they know what they want in the new one. Custom designs and usage areas are coming to the fore. In fact, this is quite a good development for manufacturers like us.

Why do you continue your activities in the Antalya Free Zone instead of Tuzla?

Antalya Free Zone employees always help us with everything. In particular, Antalya is much further ahead than Tuzla in terms of yacht production. Therefore, it is much easier to find skilled workers.

What does the Turkish yacht sector need to compete in the international arena?

We need to focus on quality productions and ensure continuity. What are the general characteristics of the megayachts you produce? We produce between 45-85 meters. Our prices range from 15 to 75 million Euros. We have made a deal with the world-famous designer Espen Oeino.
